From career woman to farmer... |
I have ridden since I was 6 year old and got my first horse when I was around 10, which was an Arabian stallion. I competed in Show jumping in Greece at what was at the time "a pretty decent level", but way back then there wasn't much competition!
As a career woman in Greece, I worked 8-hour days; add to that 3-3½ hours travel time. I dumped my career and everything else very suddenly, bought Klarsgården - which I found over the Internet, and moved to Sweden in June 2003. I have not regretted my decision for even a second! I finally have time left over to take care of my kids, with all that this entails - a luxury that I never had before. When I'm not mucking out the stables or working somewhere on my ranch, I finally have time to cook, bake and drink coffee with my neighbors and friends. Everybody said "You'll never make it through the harsh Swedish winter", but look again - it was truly a piece of cake! With the help of family, neighbors and friends (both new and old) the change of environment and lifestyle has been made easy and painless. I thank you, one and all!
Klarsgården, which we now own has a long and colorful history, which we respect and care for, learning a little bit more every day...
Life is wonderfully fun (for both me and my children), and none of us has ever felt so good. We take each day as it comes and enjoy every second and change of season!
Danai
Born 13th Feb 1995Danai is a quick-thinking, intelligent and serious girl. She loves to read and spends many hours with her nose buried in a book.
Tommy also takes up a lot of her time. She always starts off her riding by jumping up bareback on Tommy with only a halter and leadroap to have their daily "rodeo" - their special gimmick! Tommy bounces around bucking (gently) and throws Danai unceremoniously off his back, whereupon Danai jumps right back on with the same result. Once they both tire of their game, Danai tacks him up for some "serious" riding.
Furthermore Danai loves playing the piano, drawing, writing long, complicated and intense stories and playing with Ronja (her "best buddy").
Marcus
Born 27th Nov 1996 (Grandpa's 65th birthday)Marcus is an energetic guy with a twinkle in his eye (and what eyes!). He always has something going on: He 'borrows' the carpenter's hammer and nails to build himself a jump to "fly" his bicycle over, practice his stunts on his mini-cross - spraying gravel on anyone in the vicinity, baking muffins or picking and making soup of poison ivy (delicious and nutritious stuff).
His interests are many and widely varied - on top of being the family clown! In his Curriculum Vitae, in the "sports section" you will find: soccer, bandy, hockey, motor cross, horseback riding, skiing, ice-skating, etc, etc. On top of everything else, the guy plays the piano!
